Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Proverbs says the candle of the Lord searches the inward parts of man. David, generations earlier, invites that very search — not fearfully, not reluctantly, but as a request. Most people spend their energy avoiding self-examination. David asks God to do it thoroughly, on purpose, and to tell him the truth about what He finds.
This is what it looks like to cooperate with the flame instead of resisting it. You do not have to wait for circumstances to expose what is in you. You can ask, today, for the same search David asked for — knowing that whatever wicked way is found will not be found in order to condemn you, but in order to lead you, finally, in the way everlasting.
Don't just endure the search. Ask for it.
