Day 8 — The Word That Lays Bare

Hebrews 4:12-13

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit... Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The candle of the Lord does not work alone. It has a companion in the Word — living, active, cutting more precisely than any blade man has forged, able to divide what feels indivisible: soul from spirit, joints from marrow, thought from intention. What the candle illuminates, the Word exposes with surgical precision.

You may hide things from other people your whole life and succeed. You cannot hide anything from Him. Every creature stands naked and opened before His eyes — not humiliated, but seen completely, by the One with whom you have to do. That should not terrify you if you belong to Him. It should settle you, because a God who already knows everything about you has chosen you anyway.

Nothing you're hiding is hidden from Him. Let that be a relief, not a threat.
